Bees, Honey and Sea at Universo Ferris

When we talk about Universo Ferris, you already know we're not just talking about vines and wine.
We're also talking about Ferris bees and honey, those invisible engines that keep everything in balance.
Bees play a fundamental role in pollinating the vines, Mediterranean aromatic plants and all the biodiversity surroundings us.
Even though vines don't strictly depend on pollination to bear fruit - they mostly self-pollinate - the presence of bees and other insects keeps the ecosystem balanced, active and full of life.
Aromatics like rosemary, thyme, lavender and santolina - which grow freely at Ferris - do depende directly on them.
Their pollination helps maintain the natural essence, which later, somehow, can algo be felt in the vineyard.
But not everything is so simple.
The proximity of the sea here at Ferris is a gift... but also a challenge for the bees.
The constant humidity and the Levante winds make the hives struggle more than usual. The bee population is smaller compared to inland areas, and their active season is shorter.
It's a delicate balance: respecting nature's rhythms and adapting to them.
Without the Ferris bees and honey that keep the environment alive, our little ecosystem would lose part of its true natural harmony.
Today, Ferris is home to three beehives. (I'll share some photos with you.)
Small, but full of life.
Tow days ago, we harvested our second batch of honey: raw, untouched honey, filled with the aromas of our surroundings - the sea, the flowers, the palm grove...
Very soon it will be available for those who want to taste a little piece of it.
Sea honey.
Honey from flowers that grow by the sea, carrying all its Mediterranean essence within.
Though not everything is as idyllic as it sounds...
While checking the hives, nature gave me a strong reminder: a couple of stings, one of them right on the head. 😅
But that's part of it.
Signs that we're exactly we're meant to be.
Part of this living Universe, where Ferris bees and honey remind us that everything beats under the same sun.
All the best,
Rafa
