There are projects that hit you head-on, that look you straight in the eye and say: "this is the way." Universo Ferris is one of them.
Since I was a child, wine has been part of my life. Not just wine as a drink, but everything that surrounds: the land, nature, the process, the patience. I grew up in a family where wine wasn't just a product, it was a story told in every bottle.
I remember perfectly the day Universo Ferris started to take shape in my mind. I was driving along the national road 332 towards San Miguel de Salinas, tired from a long summer day working on a citrus farm, with the heat pressing down as if the sun itself was riding shotgun, when suddenly, I looked over at the state. It was an almost magical moment. Childhood walks came rushing back to me, the scent of the sea mixed with dry earth, the sound of the wind whispering through the palm trees. I thought: 'Here. This is where it has to be'. I imagined vineyards growing in this unique landscape, nurtured by the sea breeze, absorbing every element of the Mediterranean sea. In that moment, I knew I had to do it.
Here, the vineyard is a reflection of the Mediterranean in its purest form. There’s nowhere else in the world where the vine grows like this: less than 50 meters from the sea, in soils kissed by salty breezes, surrounded by the essence of coastal scrub-land and palm groves.
But we didn’t come here to do the usual. Universo Ferris isn’t a project that follows pre-marked paths, it’s a way to create something new from the roots. It’s a blend of innovation and tradition, a deep respect for the past combined with the desire to do something completely different.
We don’t just make wine, we craft an experience that smells and tastes of the Mediterranean. Everything has meaning: the aromas, the salt, the sea, the palm groves. Everything is Universe.
Universo Ferris, a paradise between Torrevieja and Punta Prima.
All the best,
Rafa Bernabé
